Salem is a busy town in southern New Hampshire, right on the Massachusetts border between Methuen and Haverhill. It was once the North Parish of Methuen, and it became part of New Hampshire when the colonial boundary was fixed in the 1740s, then was incorporated as Salem in 1750. It grew fast after the 1950s as people moved out from Greater Boston, and Interstate 93 now runs through the middle of it. The Spicket River and Policy Brook wind through town, Canobie Lake lies on the Windham line, and the Arlington Mill Reservoir sits up north.
Suburban streets and new apartments
Most of Salem is suburban housing: single-family houses on residential streets, from mid-century homes built during the town’s growth years to larger houses in newer neighborhoods. On the shores of Canobie Lake and the reservoir you find lake homes. And on the former Rockingham Park racetrack, Tuscan Village has added apartments, townhouses and condos next to its shops and restaurants.
Each kind of home needs a different approach. A newer apartment mainly needs regular upkeep and a careful clean at the end of a lease. A mid-century house may need extra time on older bathrooms and kitchens. A lake home sees heavy use in summer and is a natural candidate for a seasonal deep clean. Samira will talk through your home with you before quoting.
Where Samira works in Salem
Route 28, known as Broadway, is Salem’s main commercial street, lined with shops from the Methuen line north. Route 97 crosses in from Massachusetts and ends at Main Street near the historic common, while Route 111 crosses the northern part of town and Route 38 arrives from Pelham as Lowell Road. Interstate 93 connects it all to the rest of the region.
Samira cleans across town: around the Salem Common historic district, in North Salem and Millville, on the streets near Canobie Lake Park, close to the Mall at Rockingham Park and Tuscan Village, and in the quieter neighborhoods toward World End Pond in the southeast.
